Breakdown

A tale of adventure, mystery, and coming of age — follow a young boy from Caribou Lane as he walks in his father’s footsteps to become a master fisher.

Mechanics

Caribou Lane is a 2d Fishing Adventure RPG, laced with mystery. featuring basic mechanics such as:

• 4-way movement
• basic fishing mechanics(casting,catching,etc.)
• in game currency used to purchase upgrades
• simple combat

Setting

The game will feature a large map made up of different regions surrounding the starting area.

The small town of Caribou Lane is nestled in a valley, surrounded by vast mountains, lakes, and rivers that flow to the Great Sea.

Each region will house different fish species, durbies to compete in, environmental challenges, and areas requiring special gear to fish or explore!

Story

The overarching story unfolds through NPC conversations and narration, sprinkled throughout the core gameplay. Discover new areas, secrets, legends, and key story moments as you explore the world and connect with the locals.

Development Phase

Caribou Lane is currently in the early design phase—fleshing out the main story, artwork, and core mechanics.

Work has started on building a demo map, but this is a solo project, so progress is slow and steady.

Prototype Features

The demo map will be a watered down version of the in game starting area (Caribou Lane). Featuring core game mechanics (walking, fishing, in game market) and a small peek at some story bits.
